Weekend pics...

Visited some friends out at Lake Skiatook for a relaxing Sunday afternoon. You can see the damage Lucy did to her face (reference the post below).

A total Lucy faceplant...

Ouch.

Playing a little "red light/green light" on the way to school...and Lucy hit a downhill stretch of sidewalk and went down hard. Poor thing. She scraped her left eyelid...cheekbone...bridge of her nose...whatever that part is between your nose and lip and her chin. All teeth are intact.

Tough little girl only cried about 30 seconds. We headed back home to wash and doctor her up. Her upper lip was still bleeding a bit...so we had to stick a BandAid on it...which she thought looked like a mustache. Got some ice on that cheekbone as well. It's a bit swollen and will likely be a nice shiner by tomorrow.

9/11...

We all know the date. We know where we were. And I hope we all remember.

For our family...9/11 has yet another meaning. One year ago...on September 11th, 2007...a little boy from an orphanage in Can Tho, Vietnam became our son.

Another Lucy moment...

Our conversation this afternoon...

Lucy, "I have the bestest game for us to play."

Daddy, "Best. You have the best game for us to play."

Lucy, "I have the bestest..."

Daddy, "Best. Bestest isn't a word."

Lucy, "Yeah but bestest is a Lucy-ism."

Korea Camp 2008

Chalk up yet another hugely successful Korea Heritage Camp! This was Lucy's second year to attend full-time...and it was Eli's first. One of the great things about camp is that it's open too all siblings...regardless of their heritage.

Eli wasn't feeling too good throughout camp...he has a stomach virus...but bless his heart he tried so hard. It was a bit difficult for him being in a separate class from his sister...but the little man is such a trooper.

Lucy had a blast; I didn't expect anything less. That girl has a spirit...

This was also my first year to volunteer in the classrooms. I helped out with the first grade class...which is actually the kids about to enter 2nd grade. I don't think it's any secret that this class...and age..usually requires the most volunteers! The kiddos were so funny...rowdy for sure...but a total blast.

I hope my kids maintain the desire to attend camp...and we'll be sure to encourage it. It's so important. Yes my daughter is an American and my son is an American. But she is Korean and he is Vietnamese as well. It's our duty as parents to do our best to instill that sense of heritage...my children deserve it. And of course as they get older...heritage camp offers such a fantastic opportunity to discuss adoption issues...birth parents...loss...etc....with other kids that all share a similar thread. It's truly an amazing experience to see all these kids gathered in one place!
